Cybi Striders

We are a friendly running club based on Anglesey, North Wales. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on being a friendly club where everyone is welcome – regardless of ability or experience. We have runners who are fast, slow, young, old and all stages in between!

We meet every Monday and Wednesday from various locations on the island – just turn up and give us a try! Visiting runners welcome!

We race regularly in road, fell, trail and cross county… in all weathers!

Take a browse across our website and feel free to contact us.

Who are we?

We are a running club based on Anglesey that welcomes all runners, regardless of ability. We meet every Monday in Llangefni at 6:30pm and every Wednesday at 6:30pm at one of our weekly locations to run 4-6 miles.

Club Members regularly take part in local running events as well as travelling throughout the UK and abroad to run. The Club is part of the Borders League, a North Wales and North West running competition, as well as being part of the North Wales Cross Country League.

In addition to taking part in running events, we also meet up for regular training events, social runs and nights out. The Club has also hosted several successful beginners courses, which have seen runners going on to join the Club and take part in half and full marathons.

A busy week started with the first round of the Joe Brown Tuesday Night Fell Series at Moel Tryfan.

Jess Bibby (25:33) was first Cybi home, closely followed by Johnhuw Watkin-Hughes (25:35). Rick Groome (26:19), Faith Patterson-Jones (30:03) and Laura McKenzie (30:26) also started the series in good fashion. The next round is at Conwy.

It was a week for members travelling again, with Katie Baldwin (46:47) and Dewi Williams (49:52) heading to the Mersey Tunnel 10k, with Katie taking 3rd in age cat.

In the Dulwich 10k, Barry Smith avoided getting too dizzy on the 6 lap course, finishing in 54:40.

Overseas, new Committee member Amy Fox was in Croatia 🇭🇷 for the UTMB Istria 42km event, coming home in 5:49:04. Well done Amy!

Back nearer home it was the 2026 SheUltra starting and finishing in Pwllheli.

Jess Bibby sealed anothet top 10 finish, taking 5th in 4:54:41. Louise Brookwell (7:10:30), Rebecca Jones (7:10:33) and Sarah Osborne (7:42:23) also took on the course in what were described as "challenging" conditions; competitors reported having all four seasons in a day. Despite this, 2288 amazing athletes completed the event, showing just how popular it is!

This week, club run is in Holyhead (rumours of a summer route...), with the next club Championship round being the Rhostryfan 10k on 6th May (entry on the night). More info on Spond.

Don't forget, it's membership renewal season as well. For any queries, get in touch via Facebook or speak to your friendly neighbourhood committee members.

This weekend sees the return of the SheUltra Cymru on the Llŷn Peninsula.

A 50km, female only, Ultra Marathon starting and finishing in Pwllheli, taking in the scenic views of the Llŷn, the event raisies money for women's cancer charities.

With no time limit, the SheUltra is open to all abilities, and encourages people to take part and feel valued. The event also believes in the power of community, whilst providing safe spaces to compete. 2025 saw 1350 finishers take on the route, with our own Jess Bibby and Heidi O'Brien finishing in the top 10.

Good luck to those Cybis taking part this year and to all entrants. You're all fantastic and have achieved so much just by getting to the start line!

For more info, visit www.sheultra.com. Perhaps you may be inspired to take part in the 2027 edition, with registration for next year already open.

One day soon #lonlasmon will be a solution to that Disused Railway. If people tell their councillors a path is more desirable than failing heritage rail plan, it will happen sooner.

Thanks everyone for an enjoyable run 💪

I would have liked that run 😢😢🦶
