Cybi Striders

We are a friendly running club based on Anglesey, North Wales. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on being a friendly club where everyone is welcome – regardless of ability or experience. We have runners who are fast, slow, young, old and all stages in between!

We meet every Monday and Wednesday from various locations on the island – just turn up and give us a try! Visiting runners welcome!

We race regularly in road, fell, trail and cross county… in all weathers!

Take a browse across our website and feel free to contact us.

Who are we?

We are a running club based on Anglesey that welcomes all runners, regardless of ability. We meet every Monday in Llangefni at 6:30pm and every Wednesday at 6:30pm at one of our weekly locations to run 4-6 miles.

Club Members regularly take part in local running events as well as travelling throughout the UK and abroad to run. The Club is part of the Borders League, a North Wales and North West running competition, as well as being part of the North Wales Cross Country League.

In addition to taking part in running events, we also meet up for regular training events, social runs and nights out. The Club has also hosted several successful beginners courses, which have seen runners going on to join the Club and take part in half and full marathons.

Sunny ๐Ÿ˜Ž evening run around Llyn Cefn, with a detour along the railway line again. Next week is Rhostryfan 10k and Borders relay so the next Club run will be from Valley on 13th May. We might even go to the chip shop after ๐Ÿ˜€

Hopefully we wonโ€™t be joined by a million midges next time.

London Marathon week arrived with perfect weather at last.

Early in the week, the Tuesday Night Series visited Pen Dinas and three Cybis were in attendance. Jess Bibby (37:31) was first home, followed by Rick Groome (39:54) and Laura McKenzie (54:26).

As a warm up for his London adventure, Barry Smith was in Battersea Park for the 5k, finishing in 24:37.

Marathon weekend began with Ras Moel Wnion. The sole Cybi was Ellie Evans (55:55).

Marathon day itself began very early. Barry Smith took on the virtual marathon and completed the London Marathon reverse challenge in a time of 6:05:13. Barry started at midnight!

Armon Williams (36:39) came 12th overall in the hillier than expected Wrexham 10k for a new PB (llongyfarchiadau Armon!).

To Rhodes we go next, with Sara Sawicz completing the Rhodes 10k in 50:59 before enjoying a well earned day in the sun.

And the main event came...world records and 2hr marathons were smashed, millions raised for charities and thousands of runners took to the streets of London for the 2026 marathon.

The Cybi runners in London were led home by Gavin Stuart (2:24:09 for a new PB!); next was Stuart Jewell, back in Cybi colours, finishing in a brilliant 2:55:38. Elwyn Sharps came home in 4:41:16. And congratulations to Sara Jones, running with the 2026 club place, completing the course in a very strong 4:25:06! Da iawn pawb!

Diolch i Johnhuw am y llunia o Llundain! ๐Ÿ“ท

Remember, if you would like to have the club place in 2027, the eligibility criteria are on the club website. The main ballot is now open.

Club run is Llangefni this week, with Rhostryfan 10k on 6th May. Entries are now open for Caernarfon 10k (9th August), with Race the Train entries opening this coming Friday (1st May) at 6pm. Keep an eye out for the links!
