Cybi Striders

We are a friendly running club based on Anglesey, North Wales. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on being a friendly club where everyone is welcome – regardless of ability or experience. We have runners who are fast, slow, young, old and all stages in between!

We meet every Monday and Wednesday from various locations on the island – just turn up and give us a try! Visiting runners welcome!

We race regularly in road, fell, trail and cross county… in all weathers!

Take a browse across our website and feel free to contact us.

Who are we?

We are a running club based on Anglesey that welcomes all runners, regardless of ability. We meet every Monday in Llangefni at 6:30pm and every Wednesday at 6:30pm at one of our weekly locations to run 4-6 miles.

Club Members regularly take part in local running events as well as travelling throughout the UK and abroad to run. The Club is part of the Borders League, a North Wales and North West running competition, as well as being part of the North Wales Cross Country League.

In addition to taking part in running events, we also meet up for regular training events, social runs and nights out. The Club has also hosted several successful beginners courses, which have seen runners going on to join the Club and take part in half and full marathons.

Cybi Striders

Marathon fever died down a bit this week as the recovery continued for most.

But, the Tuesday Night Series continued, this time at the famous Three Hills, with a warning to bring your gardening gloves! Three intrepid Cybis took on the challenge (must be something about 3 Hills and 3 Cybis?) Irfon Rowlands (42:41) was first home followed by Jess Bibby (43:24) and Laura McKenzie (58:42).

Barry Smith continued to Chase the Sun, this time in Hyde Park, finishing the 5k in 24:54.

Our new club Secretary, Hannah Gray travelled to Malham in the Yorkshire Dales to take on the Pennine Barrier Ultra. Hannah finished 30th female and 204th overall in a time of 11:53:26 for a new 50 mile PB 👏

Races are back with Rhostryfan 10k this Wednesday (entry on the night), alongside the Borders League Relays in Prestatyn. Details of these and more on Spond, along with entry links for more races later in the year.

Don't forget, Welsh Athletics renewals are due, with most entry systems needing an up to date membership to accept your WA Number.

Happy running pawb!
