Cybi Striders

We are a friendly running club based on Anglesey, North Wales. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on being a friendly club where everyone is welcome – regardless of ability or experience. We have runners who are fast, slow, young, old and all stages in between!

We meet every Monday and Wednesday from various locations on the island – just turn up and give us a try! Visiting runners welcome!

We race regularly in road, fell, trail and cross county… in all weathers!

Take a browse across our website and feel free to contact us.

Who are we?

We are a running club based on Anglesey that welcomes all runners, regardless of ability. We meet every Monday in Llangefni at 6:30pm and every Wednesday at 6:30pm at one of our weekly locations to run 4-6 miles.

Club Members regularly take part in local running events as well as travelling throughout the UK and abroad to run. The Club is part of the Borders League, a North Wales and North West running competition, as well as being part of the North Wales Cross Country League.

In addition to taking part in running events, we also meet up for regular training events, social runs and nights out. The Club has also hosted several successful beginners courses, which have seen runners going on to join the Club and take part in half and full marathons.

In support of Welsh Athletics 'Own the Night' campaign, Cybi Striders are hosting a run on the evening of the 26th October. This campaign aims to raise awareness of women's safety concerns whilst running, particularly in the autumn and winter months as we head into darker evenings.

This fun and social run is open to all, including women and their allies. The evening run will be a celebration of running and to empower women and their allies to reclaim the narrative that women can run whenever and wherever they like (and should be able to do so without fear!).

When: 26th October 5.30pm
Where: Menai Bridge (meet at the Anglesey Arms pub)
Parking at Coed Cyrnol Car Park

~ 4 miles social chatty pace, all abilities welcome

As Autumn kicked into full swing, some brilliant results once again.

Barry Smith started the week by Chasing the Moon in the Olympic Park, finishing in 25:50.

Across the globe, Gareth Southworth completed the Melbourne Half Marathon in 1:43:56, with the finish line in the MCG. Bonzer! A special mention to Gareth's wife, Kath (you have seen Kath out supporting us all), who crossed the line in the Melbourne 10k in 1:30:18. Da iawn Kath!

Closer to home, Manchester Half Marathon saw three Cybis buzzing with their new PBs. Mike Holroyd (1:18:58), Siwan Jones (1:49:20) and Cerys Jones (1:49:22) running under classic leaden skies up north.

Meanwhile, in the British Police Marathon Championships held over the Bath and Bristol Trail Marathon, Bob Hind took 1st V70 in 3:52:29 to add another trophy to his collection.

Da iawn pawb, brilliant running once again. Next week is Yorkshire Marathon, then Marathon Eryri and New York Marathon. Tis the season! Let us know where you're running.

Invites are out on Spond for the Christmas Party on 29th November, and for the Trac Môn Borders League on 7th December (we need helpers...)
