Cybi Striders

We are a friendly running club based on Anglesey, North Wales. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on being a friendly club where everyone is welcome – regardless of ability or experience. We have runners who are fast, slow, young, old and all stages in between!

We meet every Monday and Wednesday from various locations on the island – just turn up and give us a try! Visiting runners welcome!

We race regularly in road, fell, trail and cross county… in all weathers!

Take a browse across our website and feel free to contact us.

Who are we?

We are a running club based on Anglesey that welcomes all runners, regardless of ability. We meet every Monday in Llangefni at 6:30pm and every Wednesday at 6:30pm at one of our weekly locations to run 4-6 miles.

Club Members regularly take part in local running events as well as travelling throughout the UK and abroad to run. The Club is part of the Borders League, a North Wales and North West running competition, as well as being part of the North Wales Cross Country League.

In addition to taking part in running events, we also meet up for regular training events, social runs and nights out. The Club has also hosted several successful beginners courses, which have seen runners going on to join the Club and take part in half and full marathons.

After last week's busy week on home turf, Cybis ventured a bit further afield this weekend.

Closest to home was the Pipe Dream Fell Race, with Faith Patterson-Jones coming in in 55:20.

In the Chester 10k, Claire Jones finished in 56:09, whilst Gareth Southworth crossed the line in 45:49, taking 8th in the M60 category (out of 153 M60 runners!).

Sonia Williams was in Rhayader for the epic scenery of the 30k Round the Lakes race, finishing in 2:29:59.

Barry Smith was in action again at the Victoria Park 10k with a time of 53:20.

But the winner of the furthest race from Ynys Môn (and the longest race, by far!) was Louise Brookwell.

She took on the mighty challenge of the Trans Gran Canaria Advanced 82km trail race from Teror to Maspolomas. Louise came home in a fantastic time of 13:25:27 over very technical terrain. Now for a well deserved sangria or 3 by the pool!

Well done again everyone!

Our club AGM is Monday 9th March in Pentraeth, still time to come and have your input/say into how the club is run for the next year. All members welcome (there will be free pizza!)

Next club run is Menai Bridge, meet at Ysgol David Hughes for 18:30.

Have a great week, wherever you're running!
