Cybi Striders

We are a friendly running club based on Anglesey, North Wales. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on being a friendly club where everyone is welcome – regardless of ability or experience. We have runners who are fast, slow, young, old and all stages in between!

We meet every Monday and Wednesday from various locations on the island – just turn up and give us a try! Visiting runners welcome!

We race regularly in road, fell, trail and cross county… in all weathers!

Take a browse across our website and feel free to contact us.

Who are we?

We are a running club based on Anglesey that welcomes all runners, regardless of ability. We meet every Monday in Llangefni at 6:30pm and every Wednesday at 6:30pm at one of our weekly locations to run 4-6 miles.

Club Members regularly take part in local running events as well as travelling throughout the UK and abroad to run. The Club is part of the Borders League, a North Wales and North West running competition, as well as being part of the North Wales Cross Country League.

In addition to taking part in running events, we also meet up for regular training events, social runs and nights out. The Club has also hosted several successful beginners courses, which have seen runners going on to join the Club and take part in half and full marathons.

Sunday brought a chilly start but the sun soon broke through.

Rob Mansell was at the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, finishing in 2:41:16 for 7th overall.and 1st M50. Well done Rob!

Barry Smith (53:47) was in Hampton Court Palace for the 10k. No sightings of any Tudor Monarchs reported.

12 Cybis made the start line in Llanrwst for the delightful(!) Snowdonia Half Marathon. It's only got 3 main hills, just don't look how steep they are! Thankfully, the weather was kind at least.

Chris Pownell led the Cybis home in third place overall in a brilliant time of 1:25:05. Well done Chris!

The other Cybis who braved Fforest Hill were:

Dylan Thomas 1:48:25
Emma Alofs 1:50:43 (pacing Leo to his first sub 2 half, raising money for the Birth Trauma Association)
Laura McKenzie 1:54:28 (2nd F45)
Yvette Adamson 2:06:30 (3rd F50)
Sion Llyr Roberts 2:06:56

Elin Lewis-Griffith 2:11:11
Gerallt Edwards 2:11:54
Donna Jones 2:13:15
Richard Furniss 2:17:15
Claire Jones 2:22:32

Katie Baldwin took on a different challenge, the 3 peaks in 24 hours, rasing over £3000

Club run this week is in Valley, further details to follow!

Next championship round is the sold out Chester Half next weekend, then the also sold out Deganwy Dash on the 29th. Llanrug 5k (3rd June) still has entries, for now.

And a quick diolch to Johnhuw Watkin for his fantastic work on the "Meet your Committee" posters. Da iawn!!!
