Cybi Striders

We are a friendly running club based on Anglesey, North Wales. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on being a friendly club where everyone is welcome – regardless of ability or experience. We have runners who are fast, slow, young, old and all stages in between!

We meet every Monday and Wednesday from various locations on the island – just turn up and give us a try! Visiting runners welcome!

We race regularly in road, fell, trail and cross county… in all weathers!

Take a browse across our website and feel free to contact us.

Who are we?

We are a running club based on Anglesey that welcomes all runners, regardless of ability. We meet every Monday in Llangefni at 6:30pm and every Wednesday at 6:30pm at one of our weekly locations to run 4-6 miles.

Club Members regularly take part in local running events as well as travelling throughout the UK and abroad to run. The Club is part of the Borders League, a North Wales and North West running competition, as well as being part of the North Wales Cross Country League.

In addition to taking part in running events, we also meet up for regular training events, social runs and nights out. The Club has also hosted several successful beginners courses, which have seen runners going on to join the Club and take part in half and full marathons.

Following on from Llanrug 5k, Cybis were back out in force across the country over the rest of the week.

First up, Barry Smith (25:39) was back chasing the sun in the Olympic Park 5k, before heading to Port Sunlight on Sunday for the 5k and 10k double, finishing in 24:50 and 56:13 respectively.

Heading off road, Sam Gunning (52:52) took a brilliant 3rd overall in the Pen Y Ghent Fell Race, matched by Kerry Jones (34:50) in the Stretch Trail 5k - Kerry came 3rd overall and 1st lady.

At the Pilgrims Trail Marathon on the Llŷn, three Cybis took to the trails. Elin Lewis-Griffith (6:14:55), Donna Jones (6:15:16) and Claire Jones (6:26:47) ran the 26.3 miles from Yr Eifl to Aberdaron.

Katie Baldwin was in action at the Jubilee Bridge Half Marathon, coming home in 1:45:39.

After 2 false starts, the 2025 Bangor Half Marathon finally dodged fallen trees and got underway. Chris Pownell (1:19:33) was first Cybi home in 4th, Armon Williams (1:24:58) was 5th and Rhodri Williams (1:25:53) was 6th, with the three filling the podium in M35. And now for something completely different...

Meanwhile, Zoë Jones (35:31) won the Byw'n Iach Hyrox Half Solo event in Caernarfon. Llongyfarchiadau Zoë!

It's been a busy week, and well done to everyone. Some stellar performances all round.

Next club champs round is Bethel 5k on 24th June, entry on the night. Club run this week...keep an eye on the socials!
