Cybi Striders

We are a friendly running club based on Anglesey, North Wales. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on being a friendly club where everyone is welcome – regardless of ability or experience. We have runners who are fast, slow, young, old and all stages in between!

We meet every Monday and Wednesday from various locations on the island – just turn up and give us a try! Visiting runners welcome!

We race regularly in road, fell, trail and cross county… in all weathers!

Take a browse across our website and feel free to contact us.

Who are we?

We are a running club based on Anglesey that welcomes all runners, regardless of ability. We meet every Monday in Llangefni at 6:30pm and every Wednesday at 6:30pm at one of our weekly locations to run 4-6 miles.

Club Members regularly take part in local running events as well as travelling throughout the UK and abroad to run. The Club is part of the Borders League, a North Wales and North West running competition, as well as being part of the North Wales Cross Country League.

In addition to taking part in running events, we also meet up for regular training events, social runs and nights out. The Club has also hosted several successful beginners courses, which have seen runners going on to join the Club and take part in half and full marathons.

After a long couple of weeks, we're finally catching up with the results

Starting down South in Battersea Park, Barry Smith Chased the Moon, running 5k in 25:37, and again this week in the Olympic Park, coming home in 25:43.

Leeds Abbey Dash 10k, Mike Holroyd took another PB of 35:11, with Tilly Edwards in 36:19.

Onto this last week, Saturday saw the Aberystwyth Charity 10k, Laura McKenzie finished in 46:31, 3rd F40.

Louise Brookwell and Jess Bibby started in Prestatyn and ran from Sea2Summit. Louise completed the Half Marathon (and a bit!) (Yes, that's the name of the race!) in 2:51:10, 2nd Lady, 7th o/a. Jess ran just a bit further, finishing the Ultra distance in 6:47:47, 1st Lady and 4th o/a. Fantastic performances by both!

A drizzly Sunday saw the worst weather thankfully avoid Trac Môn allowing our Borders League round to finally get underway (at the 3rd attempt!). To blow our own trumpets, the feedback has been brilliant and thank you to everyone who helped, ran, supported and more in making it a success!

Ben Harding (26:27) was 1st Cybi home in 4th (2nd M35). Newly crowned Club Champion Rhodri Williams started the new season as 2nd Cybi in 28:37. 1st Cybi Lady home was Katie Baldwin in 37:43.

Irfon Rowlands (30:51) finished very strong to take 2nd M55, with Bob Hind (38:46) prevailing in the competitive M70 category, winning by just 3s! A big thank you to Elwyn Sharps (59:52) for being the tail runner on the day.
