Cybi Striders

We are a friendly running club based on Anglesey, North Wales. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on being a friendly club where everyone is welcome – regardless of ability or experience. We have runners who are fast, slow, young, old and all stages in between!

We meet every Monday and Wednesday from various locations on the island – just turn up and give us a try! Visiting runners welcome!

We race regularly in road, fell, trail and cross county… in all weathers!

Take a browse across our website and feel free to contact us.

Who are we?

We are a running club based on Anglesey that welcomes all runners, regardless of ability. We meet every Monday in Llangefni at 6:30pm and every Wednesday at 6:30pm at one of our weekly locations to run 4-6 miles.

Club Members regularly take part in local running events as well as travelling throughout the UK and abroad to run. The Club is part of the Borders League, a North Wales and North West running competition, as well as being part of the North Wales Cross Country League.

In addition to taking part in running events, we also meet up for regular training events, social runs and nights out. The Club has also hosted several successful beginners courses, which have seen runners going on to join the Club and take part in half and full marathons.

After the cold snap at the end of the week, it was a busy enough weekend for Cybis, with some having made the sensible decision to escape the Winter!

At the third round of the North Wales Cross Country Championships in Bala, Irfon Rowlands continued his good run of form, finishing 2nd MV55 in 40:01.

Barry Smith took on the Supernova 5k around the Olympic Park in Stratford, coming home in 25:43.

Those clever Cybis who escaped the winter turned up in Benidorm for the 10k and Half Marathon.

In the 10k, Rhian Harper-Owen was first home in 53:15, followed by Sara Sawicz (58:55), Sarah Osborne (58:56), Sal Seeney (1:05:55) and John Riley (1:05:56). 🐝

In the Half Marathon, Darren Seeney completed the course in 2:01:51, with Donna Jones (2:10:28), Elin Lewis-Griffith (2:10:29), Rachel Threadkell (2:11:36) and Claire Jones (2:12:27) also finishing. Da iawn pawb! 🐝

It's the Christmas Party and Awards Night next weekend (tickets still on sale via Spond), followed by the Borders League at Trac Môn the following weekend (7th December). We're still in need of volunteers 🤞🤞
