Cybi Striders

We are a friendly running club based on Anglesey, North Wales. Established over 30 years ago, we pride ourselves on being a friendly club where everyone is welcome – regardless of ability or experience. We have runners who are fast, slow, young, old and all stages in between!

We meet every Monday and Wednesday from various locations on the island – just turn up and give us a try! Visiting runners welcome!

We race regularly in road, fell, trail and cross county… in all weathers!

Take a browse across our website and feel free to contact us.

Who are we?

We are a running club based on Anglesey that welcomes all runners, regardless of ability. We meet every Monday in Llangefni at 6:30pm and every Wednesday at 6:30pm at one of our weekly locations to run 4-6 miles.

Club Members regularly take part in local running events as well as travelling throughout the UK and abroad to run. The Club is part of the Borders League, a North Wales and North West running competition, as well as being part of the North Wales Cross Country League.

In addition to taking part in running events, we also meet up for regular training events, social runs and nights out. The Club has also hosted several successful beginners courses, which have seen runners going on to join the Club and take part in half and full marathons.

Cybi Striders

After a very busy week last week, there was no let up for Team Cybi.

The Tuesday Night Series headed to Y Garn with both Cybis in attendance recording strong results as part of a record field. Jess Bibby was 4th female home in 36:14 whilst Sam Gunning (26:34) took 1st overall, giving Cybi Striders their first win on a Tuesday Night Series event. Da iawn eich dau!

Staying in the mountains, UTS Eryri started on Friday and ran through the weekend. Three Cybis took on the three races with Johnhuw Watkin completing the 80k race from Caernarfon Castle to Llanberis (the long way round) in 14:00:13.

In the 100k event, Faith Paterson-Jones came through the bogs of Eryri in 27:18:03 for 18th female and 8th in category.

Louise Brookwell went one further, tackling the 100 mile race. Louise reached Llanberis in 42:02:07 for 55th overall, 7th female and 1st in category.

Absolutely fantastic running from all three, now for a good few days recovery!

Staying on the hills and fells, at Ras Y Gader
Sam Gunning (1:31:24) continued his strong week with 9th overall and 2nd U23. Shane Williams (2:04:56) also reached the finish in Dolgellau.

Meanwhile, in the Peak District at the Eyam Half Marathon (The Rat Race), Ellie Evans came home in a very respectable 1:52:00 on the very hilly course!

Back on the roads, Barry Smith was in Hemel Hempstead for the 10k, finishing in 53:25.

The latest club champs round was at Chester Half Marathon, with PBs for Gareth Southworth (1:34:59), Gethin Williams (1:37:18), Sion Roberts (1:38:36) and Sion Llyr Roberts (1:47:17).

Team Cybi was led home by Stuart Jewell (1:17:48) and Armon Williams (1:18:43), swiftly followed by Zoë Jones (1:36:38), Claire Jones (2:00:18) and Sarah Osborne (2:06:50).

Club run this week is Porthaethwy, route details to follow. Keep an eye on the race calender, they're selling out like hot cakes. Next club champs rounds are Deganway Dash (sold out!) and Llanrug 5k (still places!).

Amdani!
